In 1764 King Louis XV of France gave Bishop Montmorency-Laval of Metz permission to found a glassworks in the village of Baccarat located in Lorraine in eastern France.

- Beautiful gifts. Baccarat is a French luxury brand internationally recognized as the leader for high-end, exclusive crystal products. Since it was founded in 1764, the Company, whose manufactory is based in Baccarat, Lorraine in Eastern France, has been synonymous with unique expertise and a symbol of French art de vivre.
- In the 90-ies Mayte Mateos and one of her friends Cristina Sevilla formed a new band and called it Baccara 2000. They performed at a few festivals, released a couple of albums, although the partnership wasn’t truly successful. At the same time Maria Mendiola created her own project – New Baccara.
- In 1999 Mateos' Baccara released a new studio album through RCA-Victor/Sony-BMG, Baccara 2000, as well as an updated dance version of breakthrough hit 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' as a single. In 2004, Mayte Mateos was once again involved with Eurovision, when her incarnation of Baccara took part in the Swedish Melodifestivalen preselection contest.
